The Topeka Angels are a U-13 girls premier soccer team who compete in the Heartland soccer league and tournaments throughout Northeast Kansas. The team was formed in the summer of 2009, the result of a collaborative effort between Greg Onnen, RD Cogswell and Steve Johnson.
Coaches/Trainers
Angela Wiseman
Angela grew up in Topeka and played soccer for Shawnee Heights High School and then played collegiate soccer at Washburn for four years. She was on the MIAA Commissioner’s Academic Honor Roll 2007-2009 and the MIAA All-Conference honorable mention team 2007 & 2009. She was selected captain for the Lady Blues her senior year.
Anne Marie Messmer
Anne Marie lived in the United Kingdom for three years and played women’s soccer in Wales where she was named league MVP and Player of the Year by both Coaches and Players. While in Wales she trained and scrimmaged with the Welsh National Team. She played college soccer at Central Michigan University. Following college she coached both boys’ and girls’ JV and Varsity teams.
Steve Johnson
Steve has been involved in coaching girls soccer for four years. The last two years as a coach of the premier 98/99 Topeka Angels team. Steve has a KSYSA/USSF D coaching license.
RD Cogswell
RD played two years soccer for Manhattan Christian College in goal. He has coached girls soccer for the past eight years. The last two years as a coach of the premier 98/99 Topeka Angels team and the recreational 03/04 Topeka Kickers.
